Local trucker traveling East on Highway 64 had a single truck and trailer accident. Male driver escaped minor visible injuries. The eighteen-wheeler was lying in an embankment about ten feet below the shoulder of the road; it hit a power pole, snapping it in half. This accident caused traffic to be detoured until the rescue and cleanup was finished at approximately 3:00 pm. McClures Wrecker Services who was dispatched to the accident had to be backed up by Woods Brothers of Greenpond. Coastal Electric line crew responded to replace the power pole. The two wreckers upright the truck and trailer, and moved it safely out of the way of the power pole, so that Coastal line crew could immediately replace the pole and reconnect power lines without the lost of electrical power to any of the residents. This was a very serious and time-consuming accident and it took three local businesses working together and understanding each other to get the job done. The driver was transported to the hospital in a personal vehicle. Their were lots of concerned citizens and law enforcements on scene.
