Colleton sees 7th killing in 2009

| The seventh victim of a fatal shooting has been pronounced in Colleton County early Saturday, June 27th at Leon’s nightclub in Round O, South Carolina. |
Timarchen Lamont Truesdale, 31, of Jacksonboro, South Carolina died as a result of multiple gun shot wounds at approximately 2:48 a.m., according to Colleton County Coroner Richard Harvey. Harvey said the autopsy report has not returned, but it appears that Truesdale received multiple gun shots to the chest area.
According to Colleton County Sheriff George Malone, Elijah Martin, 58, of Cottageville, South Carolina was identified as the suspect in shooting. Martin was later arrested and charged with Truesdale’s Murder.
Some sources indicate that the victim may have attempted to rob Leon’s with a weapon and was subsequently shot by the suspect.
Malone said that it is up to the court to determine the facts in the shooting.
The case is currently under investigation by the by Sheriff’s Office and the Colleton County Solicitor’s Office.
Truesdale is the 7th victim of a fatal shooting in Colleton County in 2009. According to Harvey, one of the shootings occured in Walterboro and the other six took place in Colleton County. The Coroner’s office has handled 200 total cases for Colleton County in 2009.
