Bowers ejected and killed in single car accident

Shawn Michael Bowers, 24, of Hendersonville, South Carolina was killed in a single motor vehicle accident in Colleton County, approximately 2 miles from the Town of Williams on Hwy 212, Williams Road.According to Colleton County Deputy Coroner Richard Carter, Bowers died of severe trauma sustained in the vehicle accident. The time of Bowers? death is undetermined.Reports indicate that the vehicle Bowers was driving left the highway at a high rate of speed, went down a steep embankment, struck a tree, subsequently ejecting the patient nearly 20 feet from where the vehicle lay. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, which happen either Sunday night or Monday morning.?An alert motorist saw where the car left the roadway and stopped to check,? Colleton County Fire-Rescue Director Barry McRoy said. The vehicle and man were not visible from the road.?The vehicle was 38 feet from the roadway, down an approximately 20 foot embankment. Fire-Rescue crews used ropes, rigging and a Stokes Basket to bring the body up the steep embankment.Officers with the South Carolina Highway Patrol are investigating the accident.
