Lawn Mower Causes Accident on Hwt 17N

At approximately 12noon on April 25, 2008, at the junction of Hwy 162 and Hwy 17n, according to eye witnesses? account a white male was crossing the highway pushing a lawn mower that caused an accident.
Witnesses stated that the driver in the blue SUV swerved to avoid hitting the man and the vehicle hit the right shoulder of the road and it began to spin out of control and flip over several times and landed in the left median. They called 911 and the Saint Paul?s Fire Department first response team was on the scene in a matter of minutes followed by Charleston County Sheriff Deputies. The driver of the vehicle was transported to a near by hospital condition is unknown at this time.
According to the witnesses the white male went behind a building across the street from the scene of the accident and fled the scene in a white pick-up truck traveling north on Hwy 17 minutes before police arrived.
