Missing Person returns home safely
| A man that went missing near his home in Green Pond, South Carolina was found Monday afternoon by a Colleton County Deputy from a Charleston County Sheriff’s Office helicopter. |
According to a report from the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office, the deputy identified Mr. Henry T. Ellison, 76, of 770 Wisteria Road, as the helicopter in which he was riding was landing near a field near Green Pond. Ellison was spotted on the edge of the field in the wood line. He reportedly seemed confused, disoriented and possibly dehydrated but also happy to see someone.
Ellison’s family told authorities that he is an Alzheimer patient and that walked away from the residence at approximately 5:00 p.m. on the previous day and had not been seen since.
“I am pleased that Mr. Ellison has been returned home safely,” said Malone.
According to reports, the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office looked for Mr. Ellison in the Green Pond area Sunday afternoon and evening with assistance from Colleton County Fire/Rescue and the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office Air Unit until early Monday morning. The missing person was then entered into NCIC and also into “A Child is Missing” system where residences in a one and half mile radius were notified of his status and description by phone. On Monday, that radius was increased to a five mile radius and the search continued in the air, utilizing the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office airplane and the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office helicopter, and on the ground by Sheriff’s Office and Department of Natural Resources personnel on foot and on four-wheelers.
