Hughes heads for college

| Cottageville native Brett Hughes is scheduled to begin his college career at Louisburg College in North Carolina on August 10, 2009. He is a 2009 graduate from Colleton County High School in Walterboro and the recipient of numerous financial scholarships. |
According to Hughes, he received the Alnetha Salley Scholarship, the Harvey Scholarship, and most recently the Darwin Walker Scholarship.
Hughes is expected to start as a lineman with the Louisburg football program. He has his sights set on becoming an educator and possibly coaching sports in the future.
Hughes completed summer employment with The Dispatch.
According to Phillip M. Taylor, Hughes has a bright future and he demonstrated tremendous character and responsibility.
