Crime Blotter
“Man Assaulted” Deputies responded to a call at the incident location in reference to assault and battery. The victim stated that one subject had been drinking all day and pulled out a handgun. The victim stated that the subject never pointed the gun, but when law enforcement arrived the subject ran into the woods. And before running in the woods the subject threw him on the ground and struck him. The other subject stated that he went inside the residence to get his gun, but his mother and uncle would not let him go back outside until he put the gun away. When the deputy asked to see the gun the subject had a black 12 gauge Belknap with a wooden stock and no serial number. At that time the subject was detained and later a second subject was found in the woods and he was also detained. One subject was arrested for possession of a sawed off shotgun and the other was arrested for assault and battery.
“Another Man Was In My House” A deputy responded to a residence in regards to a dispute. Upon arrival the deputy spoke with the complainant who stated his live in girlfriend had another man in their residence when he arrived home, so he locked her out the residence. While outside the residence the subject began breaking their apartment windows. The subject had her mother pick her up and she stated she was leaving the complainant and had no plans to return to the residence.
“Armed Robbery” Deputies responded to an armed robbery at the Kangaroo Express in Jacksonboro. The three associates advised that two males wearing masks entered the store pointing pistols at them demanding money. One subject came behind the counter and dumped the money from the cash register, while the other subject held everyone at bay with the pistol. The deputies were advised that the subjects came in the building from the Charleston Hwy side door and exited the building out the front door, towards Ace Basin Hwy. Authorities then asked to view the security tapes.
“Suspicious Activity” A deputy was dispatched to a residence in response to suspicious activity. The complainant stated that his wife received a phone call from a male who wanted to know if she was home so he could deliver a package. She advised the caller that she was not expecting a package. She had also received a call from the same number the day prior and the male asked for ‘Shelia’. He further stated that on the day the male called about the package an unknown male came to their residence looking for a lost dog. The complainant stated that the male told him he was visiting a friend that lived across the street from their residence, but the complainant has never seen him in the neighborhood. The complainant also advised that he has tried to call the number back on several occasions and one time a male answered and a company, and he refused to speak with the complainant.
“Woman Assaulted” A deputy was dispatched to the Colleton Medical Center in reference to an assault. The medical personnel advised that the victim stated he was sleeping and he was awaken by the suspect grabbing him and placed him into a headlock telling him, “You ain’t worth a explicit.” The suspect then began to strike the victim in the head and face splitting his lip causing his mouth to bleed and his face was swollen. The victim told the deputy that he did not know the reason for the assault and that his roommate let the suspect into the residence. The victim did not want to press charges, but was advised of magistrate procedures.
“Husband Assaulted” Deputies reported to a residence in regards to a CDV, between husband and wife. Upon arrival, the deputies met with the victim who stated that he had just returned home and when he walked in his wife began hitting him with a garbage can. The wife advised that they were arguing about something that happened earlier in the day and she struck him with an open hand. Deputies did observe a small laceration and redness on the right side of face, but he advised he did not want to press charges and that he was taking their children to his mother’s for the night. The wife was transported to the county jail.
