Crime Blotter
| “We Made A Fair Trade” A deputy responded to a residence in reference to a civil dispute. The complainant stated that he and his sister’s boyfriend traded vehicles. But, then the victim stated that after the trade his sister’s boyfriend wanted parts of the vehicle he had given him. The complainant was advised that if he had the proper paperwork stating that he was the new owner of the vehicle he did not have to surrender any parts from the vehicle. |
The complainant then stated that his sister’s boyfriend has a marine battery, a Winchester 30/30 and a Snapper lawn mower that belongs to him and is refusing to return it, until he gets the parts. The complainant was also advised to see the Magistrate offi ce for further help with this matter.
“Residence Burglarized” A deputy met with a victim who advised that his house had been broken into, by way of forced entry. The deputy observed that the side door was forced open and he also observed a footprint on the door along with some smudges and fi ngerprints on the right side of the door. Once in the kitchen the deputy noticed all the cabinets were open and the complainant stated the refrigerator was also open, but he closed it. The victim then proceeded to list the missing items and show were they were missing from. In the master suite the suspect(s) removed an AK- 47 with a folding stock and bayonet, a .25 automatic, a .38 revolver, a .25 Smith and Wesson revolver, a Mossberg pump shot gun(5 shot), and a camcorder. In the master bedroom the suspect(s) tried to remove the television, but it was bolted to the wall, so they rummaged throughout room and the dresser removing a coin collection containing old and exotic coins, a Kodak Easy Share Digital Camera, miscellaneous jewelry, a set of old wedding rings, two normal precious gem rings, and costume jewelry. Other items removed throughout the residence was an IPOD, a Nintendo Wii, Guitar Hero bundle, a Dell laptop w/ charger, miscellaneous audio cd’s, and a silver ring and necklace set.
“Residence Burglarized” A deputy met a victim at a Beulah Rd residence in regards to a burglary. The homeowner stated that when she and her grandchild arrived at the residence the lights were on and the front door was partially open, so she immediately called 911. When the deputy arrived and cleared the premises the victim was able to walk through the residence to see if anything was missing. She later discovered that items missing included a jewelry box containing approximately $2000 worth of jewelry, a jar of coins approximately containing $20, a single barrel 12 gauge shotgun, $350 cash, and a lime green Casio digital camera.
“Contraband Found” A suspect entered the Colleton County Detention Center bringing a bottle of lotion and a bottle body wash for an inmate. But after searching the bottles several pieces of plastic bags with tobacco rolled up inside them, along with rolling paper inside the lotion bottle.
“Dispute Over Kerosene” Deputies were dispatched to an incident location in regards to a possible assault. The victim advised that he was at another location when he and the subject became involved in a verbal argument about fi lling up the kerosene heater. The victim stated that the subject is his girlfriend’s son, who was visiting. He then advised that he told the subject he was lazy and that he needed to fi ll the heater with kerosene. The two began to argue at which time the victim stated the subject hit him in the neck and back with a shotgun. When the deputies tried to make contact with the subject his mother told them that she asked him to leave until he calmed down. She also told the deputies that the victim was upset with the subject because he did not fi ll the heater, but during the argument he pulled the shotgun from the room and pointed it at the subject. At that time the two began to fi ght and the subject was able to gain possession of the shotgun and in order to protect himself he struck the victim with the gun. The mother’s story was also corroborated the subject’s sister. She further stated that when the victim left he damaged the vehicle they have in common. The victim agreed to stay with his mother until they were able to resolve this issue. The deputies also took to the broken Mossberg shotgun for safe keeping.
