Southern Six remember the late Mayfield Brown, Sr. and Vernell Brown

| On December 27th, the Southern Six celebrated their anniversary at the Johnsville Community Center in Smoaks, SC. The Founders of the Southern Six Gospel Singers group was organized by Mayfield Brown, Sr in the year of 1955, if memories serve right.
So many people were apart of the Southern Six some has deceased and some are still here. Three remaining men are trying to carry on the legacy of the Southern Six; Brother Israel Jenkins, Deacon Russell Jenkins and Brother Steve White. They are currently seeking singers and musicians to help the Southern Six regain their original profile. |
The Mother of the group for so many years is Sister Willie Mae Williams (To God Be the Glory).
The family of the late Brother Mayfield Brown and Sister Vernell Brown and wishes to express their gratitude to everyone that came out to the memorial/anniversary of their father and mother. Southern Six President Brother Israel Jenkins also extends thanks to everyone that took part in the celebration.
Groups present were: The Gospel Stars of Smoaks, The Golden Supremes of Allendale, Springtown Male Chorus of Smoaks, AJ Razor and the Spiritual Six of Bamberg, the Supreme Angels of Smoaks, The Jacksonboro Male Chorus of Jacksonboro, The Family Affair of Walterboro, Master Brunson and the Traveling Stars of Bamberg, and many more groups.
